Stadium Overview

St Albans City play at Clarence Park, one of the most historic and characterful grounds in the division. The stadium sits inside Clarence Park itself, only a short walk from St Albans City railway station, giving it a very different feel to out-of-town non-league grounds.

The ground has a traditional layout, with the famous old wooden main stand along one side, covered standing behind one goal and open standing/hard standing around other areas. The main stand is one of the defining features of the ground and gives Clarence Park a proper old football character rather than a modern sports-centre feel.

The setting is a big part of the matchday. Supporters enter from the park side, with turnstiles on York Road, Hatfield Road and Clarence Road depending on match arrangements. It is a compact, historic ground rather than a large all-seater stadium, so it is best enjoyed by arriving early, taking in the park setting and choosing whether you want the main stand view or a more traditional standing position.

Away End

Segregation is not always used at Clarence Park, especially for routine league fixtures, but St Albans City are used to operating away allocations and fixture-specific entry arrangements when required.

When segregation is in place, away supporters should follow the ticket and entrance details issued by St Albans City and the visiting club. Away allocations can vary by fixture, and some matches may require away tickets to be sold through the visiting club rather than directly to individual supporters.

For unsegregated fixtures, visiting fans can usually enter through the normal turnstiles and mix around the ground. The main stand provides the best seated view, while the covered and open standing areas give a more traditional non-league experience. If you are an away supporter wanting a quieter spot, choose a side-on standing position rather than the livelier home areas behind the goal.

Matchday Advice

Clarence Park is one of the easier grounds in the division to reach by train. St Albans City station is only a short walk away; turn left out of the station into Station Way, cross Hatfield Road and head into Clarence Park.

Driving is possible, with good wider access from the M1, A1(M) and M25, but parking needs more thought. The ground is in a public park and there is no large stadium car park directly attached to the turnstiles, so supporters should use town-centre or nearby public parking and allow time for the walk.

Inside the ground, the main stand is the best choice for a seated view and for those who want the most historic part of the venue. Covered standing is useful in bad weather, but the open areas can be exposed. For bigger games, arrive early because Clarence Park’s compact layout means queues and busy standing areas can build quickly.

Tickets

St Albans City sell tickets online through the club’s ticketing/fanzone system, with fixtures usually listed for advance purchase. Matchday admission arrangements can vary, so supporters should check the official ticket page before travelling.

Ticket categories normally include adults, concessions and younger age bands, with carers handled separately where required. Prices can change by season and competition, so do not rely on older National League South pricing when visiting in 2026/27.

Away supporters should check whether tickets are being sold directly by St Albans City or through their own club’s ticket office. For ordinary unsegregated fixtures, away fans may buy in the same way as home supporters. For matches with an away allocation, buy the correct away ticket and use the entrance stated in the match information.

Stadium Rules

Supporters should follow St Albans City stewarding instructions and the usual football ground rules: no pyrotechnics, no pitch encroachment, no throwing objects, no discriminatory behaviour and no items that could endanger others.

Because Clarence Park is located inside a public park, visitors should be respectful when arriving and leaving, especially around park users, nearby residents and the historic surroundings. Alcohol should not be brought into the ground unless the club specifically permits it.

If segregation is in place, supporters must remain in their allocated area and use the facilities provided for that section. Children should be supervised around the terraces, steps and pitchside barriers, particularly on busy matchdays.

Accessibility

Clarence Park is a traditional older ground, so accessibility is not the same as at a modern purpose-built stadium. Supporters with specific needs should contact St Albans City before travelling to confirm the best entrance, parking/drop-off advice and viewing position.

The ground has areas of hard standing and some level routes, but the old main stand and terraced sections may involve steps or tighter access. Wheelchair users are likely to find pitchside hard-standing areas the most practical viewing option, subject to crowd size and weather.

The nearby railway station is helpful for public transport access, but supporters with mobility needs should check station accessibility and the walking route through Clarence Park. If attending a segregated fixture, disabled away supporters should check which entrance and viewing area will be available.

Stadium Tours

St Albans City do not advertise regular public stadium tours of Clarence Park. Although the ground is historic and well worth seeing, it operates as a working non-league football ground rather than a formal stadium-tour attraction.

Supporters wanting to enjoy the setting should arrive early on matchday and walk through Clarence Park before entering. Any special access for community groups, schools, sponsors or media should be arranged directly with the club.
