Stadium Overview

The Silverlands, currently known as the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, is one of the most distinctive grounds in National League North. Set in Buxton in the Peak District, it is regularly described as one of the highest football grounds in England and has a very different feel to many urban non-league stadiums.

The ground is compact and traditional, with a mix of covered standing, seated accommodation and open hard standing around the pitch. The most recognisable covered standing area is often referred to as the Shed, while other areas of the ground provide more open views. Because of the town's location and the exposed setting, weather can play a bigger part in the matchday experience here than at some other grounds.

The Silverlands is a proper old-style non-league ground rather than a modern all-seater venue. It has character, close views and a strong local feel, but visitors should expect facilities to be practical rather than luxurious, especially at busy segregated fixtures.

Away End

Away segregation at Buxton is used on selected fixtures and can be quite specific when in place. Visiting supporters have previously been allocated the Mill Cliff section of the ground, entering via the Mill Cliff turnstiles.

The away section is mainly standing. Away information for segregated fixtures has advised that supporters requiring seating should speak to a steward, who can direct them to an appropriate seated area. The covered Shed area and nearby uncovered standing may form part of the away allocation depending on the fixture.

For unsegregated games, supporters may have more freedom to move around the ground, but for busier matches away fans should expect clear entry instructions and possibly advance-ticket requirements. Buxton is a ground where checking match-specific away information is strongly recommended.

Matchday Advice

A trip to Buxton can be one of the more memorable away days in National League North, but it needs planning. The ground is close to the town centre, but parking around the stadium itself is limited and visitors are asked to park considerately because it is a residential area.

Weather can be a bigger factor at The Silverlands than at many grounds. Even outside winter, the exposed Peak District setting can make the ground feel cold, wet or windy, so dress for the conditions and do not rely on every viewing area being covered.

If segregation is in place, follow the Mill Cliff entrance instructions and arrive in good time. For neutral supporters, the covered areas are usually best in poor weather, while those wanting the most traditional experience may prefer the standing sections close to the pitch.

Tickets

Buxton tickets are usually available through the club's normal ticketing channels, but individual fixtures can be made segregated or all-ticket depending on the opposition and expected attendance.

Away fans should check whether they have been allocated the Mill Cliff section or another specific area. For segregated games, entry may be through the Mill Cliff turnstiles and the away allocation may be standing only unless stewards direct supporters requiring seats elsewhere.

For neutral supporters, covered areas are recommended in poor weather. The Silverlands is a good ground for traditional standing views, but if comfort or shelter matters, choose your ticket and arrival position carefully.

Stadium Rules

Buxton operate standard stadium rules and supporters should follow steward instructions, especially at segregated matches where away fans may need to use the Mill Cliff turnstiles and remain in the allocated away section.

The club asks visitors to park considerately and with due care for local residents, as parking at the stadium is limited and the surrounding streets can become busy on matchdays.

At segregated games, the away section may be standing only. Supporters requiring seating or assistance should speak to a steward rather than trying to access another part of the ground without guidance.

Accessibility

Buxton state that there is limited car parking space at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium for disabled visitors, and requests should be made in advance wherever possible.

For segregated fixtures, away supporters requiring seating have previously been advised to speak to a steward, who will direct them to an appropriate seated area. This is important because the normal away allocation may be standing only.

The Silverlands is a traditional ground with some open and standing areas, so supporters with access needs should arrive early and contact the club before travelling to confirm the best entrance, parking and viewing arrangements.

Stadium Tours

Regular public stadium tours are not normally advertised at The Silverlands. The ground is best experienced on a matchday, where its setting and traditional layout are part of the appeal.

Anyone looking for special access, group visits or non-matchday arrangements should contact Buxton directly, but supporters should not expect a standard stadium tour product.
