Stadium Overview

Gander Green Lane, currently known as the VBS Community Stadium, is Sutton United's long-term home and one of the most recognisable compact grounds in south London. It sits very close to West Sutton station, making it one of the easiest National League grounds to reach by rail.

The stadium has a mixture of seated stands, covered terraces and open areas. The main stand side contains seating and club facilities, while the far side and end areas provide a mix of standing and newer temporary or modular structures that were added and adapted during Sutton's Football League years.

Gander Green Lane is tight, practical and close to the pitch, with more of a community ground feel than a large stadium feel. For neutrals, seated areas in the main stand or family stand give the best view and comfort. For atmosphere, the standing sections are more lively, though allocations and fan zones can change depending on segregation.

Away End

Away supporters at Sutton United are usually allocated a designated away zone at the park side or away end of the stadium, with access controlled through the away entrances shown on the club's matchday guide. The official away guide explains that home fans use gates A and C, while away arrangements use the separate away fan zone.

Away facilities can include covered standing, limited seating and temporary structures depending on the fixture and current layout. The away end is close to the pitch and has a proper compact-ground feel, but it is not a large away stand, so bigger followings can feel busy.

Disabled away supporters should note that Sutton list three wheelchair spaces in a dedicated temporary covered structure at pitch level along the park side, accessible from the away fans' zone. These should be booked in advance before buying a match ticket.

Matchday Advice

Gander Green Lane is very convenient by train. West Sutton station is only a short walk from the ground, making rail travel one of the simplest ways to visit. Sutton station and the town centre are also within reach, giving supporters more options for food and drink before the match.

Parking at the stadium is very limited and generally for permit holders only. Street parking is available in some surrounding roads, but restrictions apply and supporters should use town-centre car parks if they want a more reliable option.

For neutrals, seated areas are the best choice for view and comfort. Away supporters should check the latest away guide because entry gates, fan zones and accessible arrangements are specific to the matchday setup. The stadium is compact, so arriving early helps with queues and finding the right section.

Tickets

Sutton United tickets are normally sold online through the club ticketing system, with prices varying by age band and by seating or general admission area. The club publishes matchday ticket information before each fixture.

Away supporters should buy the designated away ticket where segregation is in place and should follow the away fan guide for entry points and facilities. Because Gander Green Lane is compact, advance purchase is recommended for fixtures with larger visiting followings.

For home or neutral supporters, seated tickets in the stand or family areas give the most comfortable view. General admission standing is better for those wanting a traditional lower-league experience. Away supporters with accessibility needs should contact the club before buying, particularly if they require one of the limited away wheelchair spaces.

Stadium Rules

Gander Green Lane operates standard football ground regulations, with ticket checks, stewarding and possible searches. Supporters should use the correct home or away gates and remain in the correct area when segregation is in operation.

Flares, smoke devices, fireworks, alcohol brought into the ground, glass bottles, weapons and other dangerous items are not permitted. Large flags, banners, drums or musical instruments should be checked with the club before travelling.

Because the stadium sits within a residential and park-side setting, supporters should be considerate when arriving and leaving. Parking restrictions should be respected, and supporters should avoid blocking driveways or using permit-only areas.

Accessibility

Sutton United publish disabled supporter information for the VBS Community Stadium. The club lists three wheelchair spaces in a dedicated temporary structure along the park side of the stadium at the away end. This covered shelter is at pitch level and is accessible from the away fans' zone.

To guarantee availability, wheelchair spaces should be booked in advance by contacting the club, and Sutton ask supporters to do this before buying a match ticket. All wheelchair spaces have access to accessible toilets.

Supporters who require companion tickets, step-free access, accessible parking or other assistance should contact Sutton United before travelling. This is especially important for away supporters because the away wheelchair provision is limited and tied to the away fan zone.

Stadium Tours

There does not appear to be a regular public stadium tour programme at Gander Green Lane. Sutton United publish matchday, ticketing and accessibility information, but routine bookable tours are not clearly advertised.

Supporters interested in a group visit, community access or special arrangement should contact Sutton United directly. For most visitors, the practical way to experience the VBS Community Stadium is by attending a match.
