Stadium Overview

Winklebury Football Complex is a modern football facility on Winklebury Way and is shared with the Hampshire FA set-up. It is very different in feel from Basingstoke Town's former Camrose home, with a newer, compact layout built around an artificial playing surface rather than an old-style enclosed non-league ground.

The main spectator areas are practical rather than ornate, with covered seating and standing positioned around the main pitch and most of the matchday activity focused around the clubhouse, turnstiles and the hard-standing areas close to the pitch. Sightlines are generally good because the ground is open and close to the action, although it can feel more like a football complex than a traditional old stadium. The setting is straightforward for visitors, with the ground sitting within a wider sports site rather than a tight town-centre street layout.

Away End

Segregation is not normally expected for routine Southern League fixtures at Winklebury, so away supporters should usually expect to enter through the same spectator access points as home fans and choose a place around the ground. For larger fixtures, cup ties or local matches, arrangements can change and visiting supporters should check both clubs' match information before travelling.

When no segregation is in place, away fans will normally be able to use the same clubhouse, refreshment and toilet facilities as home supporters. The ground is compact, so supporters who want noise and atmosphere usually gather behind one of the goals or along the more populated side of the pitch. If segregation is introduced, follow stewarding on the day rather than assuming the usual open layout applies.

Matchday Advice

Winklebury is a functional ground and the best advice is to plan parking before arrival. The club has previously advised that parking inside the ground is reserved for players, officials and disabled spectators, with general spectator parking directed behind Loddon Vale Bowling Club. Do not rely on turning up and parking immediately outside the entrance.

The artificial surface and open sports-complex setting mean the ground can feel exposed in poor weather, so bring suitable clothing if you intend to stand. It is a good ground for neutral visitors who like being close to the pitch, but it does not have the same amount of covered traditional terracing found at some older non-league venues. Arrive a little early for bigger games because access roads and local parking are more limited than the size of the wider site may suggest.

Tickets

For normal league fixtures, tickets are usually handled through Basingstoke Town's official channels, with online sales often used and pay-on-the-gate arrangements likely to be available unless a match is made all-ticket. Prices and concession categories should always be checked against the individual fixture information, especially for cup games or high-profile matches.

Away fans should check their own club's match preview as well as Basingstoke's ticket information. At this level, away allocations are not always issued in the same way as higher-league football, and unsegregated fixtures usually mean visiting supporters buy the same general admission ticket as everyone else. For the best view, the seated or covered side is the safest choice; for atmosphere, stand with your own travelling group behind a goal or along the side depending on how the crowd settles.

Stadium Rules

Supporters should follow the standard ground rules issued by the club, stewards and Hampshire FA site staff. As Winklebury is a football-complex venue with an artificial pitch, spectators should not enter the playing surface, climb pitch barriers or take glass, alcohol or pyrotechnics into spectator areas.

Parking rules are particularly important here because parts of the on-site parking are reserved. Supporters should use the advised spectator parking areas and avoid blocking local access roads, residential streets or the approaches used by players, officials and emergency vehicles.

Accessibility

Basingstoke Town list accessible toilets as available at the stadium, and the club has previously indicated that on-site parking is reserved for players, officials and disabled spectators. Disabled supporters should contact the club in advance if they need parking, step-free access advice or a particular viewing position.

The ground is relatively modern and flatter than many older non-league venues, but it is still sensible to check arrangements before travelling because crowd size, segregation and parking controls can affect the easiest access point on the day.

Stadium Tours

Regular stadium tours are not advertised for Winklebury Football Complex. This is a working football facility rather than a visitor-attraction stadium, so supporters should not expect formal tours on matchdays.

Anyone wanting to view the facilities outside a matchday would need to contact Basingstoke Town or Hampshire FA directly, but for general supporters the realistic way to see the ground is by attending a fixture.
