Stadium Overview

Curzon Ashton play at the Tameside Stadium on Richmond Street, Ashton-under-Lyne. Opened in 2005, it is one of the more modern and tidy grounds in the division, with a capacity of around 4,000 and a main seated stand holding just over 500 seats.

The ground has a main stand on one side, with covered accommodation and terracing elsewhere around the pitch. It is a neat, functional stadium rather than an old-style enclosed town ground. The pitch is visible from all four sides, and the open layout makes it fairly easy to move around when segregation is not being used.

One of the distinctive features outside the stadium is the statue celebrating three locally born World Cup players: Geoff Hurst, Jimmy Armfield and Simone Perrotta. Overall, the Tameside Stadium is a well-kept modern non-league venue with better infrastructure than many grounds at this level.

Away End

Segregation at Curzon Ashton is fixture-dependent. For many matches, supporters are not segregated and away fans can move around the ground to choose their preferred view. However, Curzon do use segregation for some larger or higher-profile fixtures, particularly where the visiting club is expected to bring a significant following.

When segregation is in place, away fans are allocated a specific section of the Tameside Stadium and stewards direct supporters to the correct area. Visiting clubs have previously advised fans that away tickets may need to be bought in advance for segregated matches, although some fixtures have also allowed cash or card payment at away turnstiles.

There is no single permanent away end that applies every week. The important advice is to check the match guidance before travelling, because the same stadium can operate as an open, unsegregated ground for one fixture and a controlled away allocation for another.

Matchday Advice

The Tameside Stadium is a straightforward ground to visit, but it is worth checking the fixture status before travelling because arrangements can change significantly depending on the opposition. For most ordinary games, it should feel like a relaxed non-league away day. For bigger fixtures, ticket checks, segregation and specific away sections may be in use.

The ground is close to Ashton-under-Lyne and is usually manageable by public transport or taxi from local stations. If driving, arrive early enough to deal with local parking and the approach to the stadium site. The ground’s modern layout means views are generally decent, but the best covered spots can be popular in poor weather.

Neutral supporters will usually find the main stand the best place for a clear side-on view. Those who prefer atmosphere may choose covered terracing or move around if the match is not segregated.

Tickets

Curzon Ashton use online ticketing through TicketCo for many fixtures, and admission has also been available by cash or card at the turnstiles for some matches. For segregated or higher-profile fixtures, the visiting club may receive a dedicated away ticket link and supporters may be advised not to travel without a ticket.

Away supporters should check whether the match is segregated before buying or travelling. If segregation is in place, buy the correct away ticket and use the away entrance or section identified by the clubs and stewards.

Neutral supporters can normally buy general admission unless the fixture is subject to special arrangements. The main stand is the best option if you want seating and a side-on view, while terracing is better for a more traditional non-league feel.

Stadium Rules

Curzon Ashton apply standard football ground rules: no pyrotechnics, no pitch incursions, no throwing objects, no discriminatory or abusive behaviour, and no access to restricted areas. Supporters should follow stewarding instructions, particularly where segregation is in use.

Alcohol rules will depend on the licensed areas in operation and supporters should not take alcohol into areas where it is not permitted. For segregated fixtures, supporters must remain in the section allocated to them and should not attempt to move into home areas.

Accessibility

The Tameside Stadium is a more modern ground than many at this level, but disabled supporters should still contact Curzon Ashton in advance for the latest information on wheelchair viewing, step-free access, accessible toilets and parking. The main stand and hardstanding areas are likely to be the most practical parts of the ground for many disabled visitors.

If a fixture is segregated, away disabled supporters should check whether the normal away entrance is suitable or whether an alternative access point can be arranged. Advance contact is recommended, especially for matches expected to attract larger crowds.

Stadium Tours

Regular public stadium tours are not normally advertised at the Tameside Stadium. It is a working non-league football venue, so supporters wanting behind-the-scenes access should contact Curzon Ashton directly rather than expecting tours to be available on matchdays.
