Stadium Overview

Vitality Stadium, still widely known by many supporters as Dean Court, is one of the smallest grounds in the Premier League and that is a major part of its character. It sits in King's Park in Boscombe rather than in Bournemouth town centre itself, surrounded by parkland, car parks, leisure facilities and residential streets. The compact scale makes it feel very different from the league's larger arenas: everything is close, the walkways are straightforward, and the pitch never feels far away.

The ground is made up of four stands. The Main Stand contains the principal club facilities and hospitality areas. Opposite is the East Stand, which is particularly important for visiting supporters because the away section is located at the southern end of that side. Behind the goals are the Steve Fletcher Stand and the Ted MacDougall Stand, giving the stadium a neat, enclosed but modest four-sided layout.

Because the stadium is compact, even average crowds can create a good atmosphere, and the away support can make a noticeable impact. The trade-off is that concourses, approaches and nearby roads can feel tight when the ground is full. For neutrals, the side stands offer the best overall view, while supporters looking for the loudest home atmosphere are better placed behind the goals.

Away End

Away supporters at Vitality Stadium are normally located in the East Stand, towards the southern end of the ground, with away blocks commonly listed as 21 to 24. The visiting section is accessed via Turnstile F, and recent away-fan guidance from visiting clubs has continued to point supporters to that East Stand away entrance. The allocation is relatively small by Premier League standards, which makes tickets difficult for many travelling supporters.

The away end is close to the corner of the stadium and the view is generally decent, with supporters close to the pitch and the action. However, the stand is compact and the concourse can become crowded, particularly at half-time. Recent seating-plan guidance has also noted safe-standing-style arrangements in the away area, so supporters who are unable or unwilling to stand for long periods should check accessible or suitable seating options through their own club before buying.

Outside the stadium, away supporters are usually managed around the King's Park side of the ground. Coaches and supporter transport may be directed to specific areas, and accessible coaches can be parked closer to the away end when arranged. The ground is not in the middle of the town centre, so away fans should plan the last part of the journey rather than assuming there will be a busy city-centre stadium approach.

Getting There

By Road

From the North

From the north, take the M3 southbound, continue onto the M27 westbound, then follow the A31 towards Ringwood before taking the A338 into Bournemouth. Leave for the Kings Park/Dean Court area and follow local signs for the Vitality Stadium. Parking around the stadium is limited and can fill early, so check AFC Bournemouth's current matchday parking advice before travelling and allow extra time leaving after full-time.

From the South

From the south and south-west, routes into Bournemouth usually involve the A35, A338, A31 or local roads through Bournemouth and Christchurch before heading towards Kings Park and Dean Court. The stadium sits in a residential park area with limited parking, and AFC Bournemouth have warned that matchday parking can be affected by stadium works and restrictions. Check current club guidance before travelling and arrive early.

From the East

From the east, routes to Bournemouth usually use the A31 westbound through Ringwood before joining the A338 into Bournemouth, then following signs towards Kings Park and Dean Court. Local traffic around the Vitality Stadium can be slow and parking is limited. AFC Bournemouth have warned that matchday parking can be affected by restrictions and stadium works, so check the latest official guidance before setting off.

From the West

From the west, approach Bournemouth using the A35, A31 or local Dorset routes before joining roads towards Boscombe, Kings Park and Dean Court. The Vitality Stadium sits in a residential park area and parking is limited, with matchday restrictions and stadium works sometimes affecting available spaces. Check AFC Bournemouth's current parking and travel advice before travelling, arrive early and expect local congestion leaving after the match.

By Train

Bournemouth & Pokesdown

Bournemouth station is the main rail option for most long-distance supporters visiting the Vitality Stadium. From there, the ground is usually reached by taxi, bus or a longer walk towards Kings Park. Pokesdown station is closer to the stadium and can be useful for local services, but supporters should check whether suitable trains stop there before relying on it. Allow extra time for onward travel and post-match demand.

Walking From Station

Pokesdown

Pokesdown station is the closest walkable rail station to the Vitality Stadium. From Pokesdown, the walk to Dean Court usually takes around 15 to 25 minutes depending on pace and route, heading towards Kings Park and the stadium. Bournemouth station is better served by longer-distance trains but is further away, so supporters arriving there may prefer a taxi, bus or a longer walk.

By Air

Bournemouth Airport & Southampton Airport

Bournemouth Airport is the nearest airport to the Vitality Stadium, but flight options are limited compared with larger airports. Southampton Airport is another realistic option, with rail links from Southampton Airport Parkway towards Bournemouth. From Bournemouth station, supporters usually continue by bus, taxi or a longer walk towards Kings Park. Check late return travel carefully, especially for evening or Sunday fixtures.

Taxi / Public Transport

PRC / Streamline Taxis

AFC Bournemouth list PRC / Streamline in their travel guidance, with match-ticket discount information sometimes available through the club. This is the best first taxi option for the Vitality Stadium. Book in advance where possible, especially after evening games, and expect delays around Kings Park and Boscombe immediately after full-time.

Morebus m2 and X3

For the Vitality Stadium, Morebus list the m2 from Poole and Bournemouth and the X3 from Bournemouth, Ringwood or Salisbury as useful services for Dean Court. AFC Bournemouth guidance has also referred to the m2 bringing supporters closer to the stadium via Boscombe. Check current Morebus times and allow extra time after full-time, especially for evening games.

Parking
Sovereign Shopping Centre

AFC Bournemouth have pointed supporters towards the Sovereign Centre as an alternative parking option near the Vitality Stadium. It is around a short walk from the ground and provides a recognised paid car park rather than searching residential streets. Check current tariffs, closing times and walking route before travelling.

Kings Park Drive Car Park

A local parking option around Kings Park and Dean Court. It can be convenient for the Vitality Stadium but fills quickly on matchdays. Check pay-and-display or app payment details and avoid nearby residential roads affected by matchday restrictions.

JustPark Vitality Stadium Spaces

A useful pre-booked option for private driveways and small commercial spaces near Dean Court. This is often safer than searching for local street parking, as matchday restrictions around the stadium can be enforced.

Matchday Advice

Vitality Stadium is easy enough to find by road because it sits off the A338/Wessex Way route into Bournemouth, but matchday traffic around Boscombe and King's Park can be slow. The club advises that turnstiles open 90 minutes before kick-off, and arriving early is sensible because the stadium is compact and queues build quickly close to kick-off.

By train, Pokesdown is usually the closest station for the stadium, with Bournemouth station also usable but further away. The walk from Pokesdown is manageable for most supporters, but it is not a city-centre stroll with lots of obvious football pubs on the route. If travelling through Bournemouth town centre, allow time for buses or taxis, especially for evening matches or summer traffic.

Parking near the ground is limited and some surrounding streets are residential or restricted. King's Park parking arrangements can vary and fill quickly, so pre-planning is strongly recommended. Away fans should also remember that Bournemouth away allocations are small, so the away end can feel packed and noisy even with fewer supporters than at larger Premier League grounds.

Tickets

AFC Bournemouth home tickets are sold through the club's official ticketing platform, with priority normally based on season-ticket status, membership, points or previous booking history depending on the fixture. Because Vitality Stadium has one of the smallest capacities in the Premier League, general availability can be very limited, especially for high-demand league games.

For neutrals, the side stands provide the best view of the whole pitch. The Main Stand and central East Stand areas are usually the most straightforward choices if available, while the home ends behind the goals are more suited to regular Bournemouth supporters. The areas closest to the away blocks in the East Stand can be more lively and are not the calmest neutral option.

Away tickets are sold only through the visiting club. Because the away allocation is small, most clubs will apply loyalty points or priority windows, and many away fixtures at Bournemouth sell out quickly. Travelling fans should check whether their ticket is seated, safe-standing/rail-seat style, ambulant accessible or wheelchair-accessible before travelling.

Stadium Rules

Vitality Stadium uses standard football ground regulations: no pyrotechnics, no pitch encroachment, no discriminatory behaviour, no alcohol in view of the pitch and no entry without a valid ticket. Supporters should expect searches and should follow the instructions of stewards, especially around the compact away entrance and concourse.

The club advises that turnstiles open 90 minutes before kick-off, giving access to the concourse, food and drink and toilets. Supporters should not leave entry until the last few minutes, because the smaller stadium footprint means queues can quickly affect arrival times.

Away supporters should use the entrance stated on their ticket or in their club's travel guidance. Entering the wrong area, attempting to access home sections as an away supporter, or ignoring segregation instructions may lead to refusal of entry or ejection.

Accessibility

AFC Bournemouth publish disabled accessibility guidance for Vitality Stadium, including information on routes, viewing positions and accessible facilities. The club also references detailed access guides, and supporters with specific requirements are advised to contact the club or their own ticket office in advance.

The stadium has accessible viewing provision, including elevated viewing positions in parts of the East Stand and visiting block areas, with access arrangements such as platform lifts in certain locations. Some elevated platforms may have restrictions, so wheelchair users should check suitability before booking. Personal assistants are normally seated adjacent to disabled supporters where arrangements allow.

Away disabled supporters should book through the visiting club and confirm the exact block, entrance and facilities before travelling. The compact stadium and surrounding park area are manageable for many supporters, but parking, drop-off and coach arrangements should be checked in advance, particularly for evening matches or poor weather.

Stadium Tours

There is no strong current evidence of regular, bookable public stadium tours at Vitality Stadium in the same way offered by some larger Premier League clubs. AFC Bournemouth's official site is much more focused on matchday ticketing, travel, hospitality and supporter information.

That does not mean the club never opens the ground for special events, community activity or occasional behind-the-scenes access, but a regular public stadium-tour product does not appear to be clearly advertised at present. Supporters wanting to visit outside a matchday should check AFC Bournemouth's official website or contact the club before making travel plans.
